Service Description
Video-call consultations include the below: • A thorough feeding assessment – observing your baby feed • Feeding information – ‘responsive feeding’, sometimes called ‘feeding on demand’ • The importance of ongoing skin-to-skin contact • Feeding cues – recognising the early communication signs • Feeding positioning – tips on getting it right • Attachment – how to ensure a good latch • Reduction in pain and discomfort • How to identify effective feeding • How to improve breastfeeding • Expressing breast milk • Baby weight and growth chart analysis • Feeding plan (as required) • Mixed feeding advice (as required) • Electronic follow up support information Prior to our consultation I will ask you to complete a registration form with as much information as you can share to help you get the most out of your consultation . During our call I will listen carefully whilst you explain what has been happening in your breastfeeding journey so far. I may ask some questions about your babies feeding habits, weight gain and nappies. I will observe you giving your baby a feed and ask you some questions on whether you have any pain or discomfort. I may show you some positioning options and techniques and discuss some changes you may trial. I aim to work in a collaborative way with families where we problem solve together and I leave you with a realistic plan and some practical solutions to help you improve you and your baby’s breastfeeding experience.
